Learning Objectives

Leaders know how to think strategically. Knowledge workers know how to think strategically when they are confronted with a demanding question from a customer. At the fast pace of change, managers and supervisors must move beyond the traditional manager and be a leader who knows how to have a vision for the future and think strategically about that future. But most important, they must know how to facilitate their team members in a process so that they also see the vision and strategy.

By the end of this workshop you will know:

  • The Process Quality Management system of strategic planning
  • How to involve everyone in the process of developing a strategic plan that has focused, measurable action steps and accountability
  • How to follow up the strategic plan so you accomplish your goal

Workshop Overview

Participants in this workshop will develop a strategic plan and present it to the class. Each plan will follow the eight steps of strategic planning.

Step One: Develop the strategic plan mission
Step Two: Establish a vision statement for the strategic plan
Step Three: Identify the impact factors
Step Four: SWOT analysis
Step Five: Establishing the Critical Success Factors of the plan

Necessary and sufficient rules
No more than eight
No less than four
Each has one primary focus

Step Six: Determine the strategic and tactical business processes
Step Seven: Ensure each of the business processes with an owner
Step Eight: Establish a time line and priority rating for each business process
